Green news! The Tampere factory in Finland has received the renewable energy certification from Fingrid, Finland’s transmission system operator. The factory was already using green energy, and with this certification, we can now report that this location uses 100% renewable energy.
The Tampere facility is powered by hydro-based energy, which is generated from melting waters and natural rain accumulation. This process is significantly more environmentally friendly than other techniques, such as the burning of fossil fuels, which contribute to air and water pollution, habitat and wildlife loss and global warming emissions.
Since the hydro-based renewable energy system doesn’t produce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the Tampere factory’s GHG emissions are approximately 0 – which is a huge step toward our sustainability goals. In addition, the facility is currently working with an internal water cycle system in our test run, which aims for heat recovery and reduces the use of water. The factory is also only using adaptive LED lights, which will reduce its energy consumption by about 90% in comparison to fluorescent lights.
